Welcome
to A clearinghouse of information about native and naturalized plants of the Carolinas and Georgia. Use the search tool at left to query by common or scientific name, by plant description, or by family. On this site you can see what native plants are being recommended for landscape use, look up botanical terms, read about plants and plant communities, and discover botanically interesting places to visit. The ReadMeFirst page is a good place to start. To really learn your way around the site, download a tour guide! NameThatPlant.net
currently features 2615 plants and 8819 photos. Recent
additions include a "compare" feature. Whenever you
see a photograph with a note saying "compare this to" just click
on the link(s) Another
new feature is the drop-down box at the
top of the search results page, that allows you to see flowers, leaves,
fruit, etc., at a glance! Habitat descriptions are now displayed here too, along with the maps. NameThatPlant.net
is a work-in-progress: Your comments/corrections are welcomed
and will make the site more useful for us all. Want to know more
